Bad Programmer

@BadProgrammer

I work with a few developers who are, shall we say, less than stellar. Unfortunately, they think they are awesome and that everyone else is wrong.

Stop with the clean code! There are only 3 people that care about it!

Best practices are just someone's opinions... and I have my own opinions and therefore my own best practices.

[On quitting] My new job is more PHP and MySQL. So I don't really have to write solid code.

A my last job we would never hire anyone with a college degree. Experience is the only thing that matters.

I don't like validating form input. It makes it too difficult for people to use the form with all these rules, so I don't do any validation.

[After committing to a broken build that HE broke] That's what happens when you're fast at fixing bugs. Slow != Quality.

Pair Programming improves the quality of the code but it does not stop bugs.

Heard of the Build Box? It runs the test suite and emails you on failure. It's neat. Fix a minor bug and move onto another really quick!

Give QA a build without running any regression tests. Then they will always have one. I'm tired of fixing tests because QA has no build.

Why do we need a regression phase during a build? Let's just delete all the tests and not write any.

Don't tell me how to code! I've been programming since I was six!

I don't need to run tests. The build machine will catch my bugs.

Ok, that's true about domain objects, but what about entities?

Well, I don't know much about this [programming] topic... but I have an opinion about it anyway.

Tests don't find bugs

But the best programmers I know never went to college. I didn't go to college.

Why do you need database constraints? I don't buy it. It just makes things harder.

I don't need to test this or write a test for this! I am pretty sure that it is working.

I have learned everything there is to learn in programming.
