We have returned from a fascinating group visit to CERN in Geneva! We got to witness the world’s largest particle physics lab up close and learn about cutting-edge research on dark matter and antimatter⚛️. Thank you to the CERN team for their hospitality and inspiration!

Last week we were happy to join BIOS/Lab on Chip group from University of Twente on their group retreat in Interlaken. Prof. Petra Dittrich, Dr. Bijing Xiong and Sara Svanberg were giving guest talks. Thank you for the inspiring day with a warm welcome and great organization!

ETH Zurich’s new BSS teaching and research building on the Schällemätteli life science campus in Basel has officially opened its doors. In the Bioanalytics group, we organized a lab tour for the curious guests to showcase our work on "labs in credit card size".

We are happy to introduce Dr. Ayushi Agrawal, our newest addition to the Bioanalytics group. She recently received her PhD from University College London. Dr. Agrawal brings experience in 3D cell culture, microfabrication, and microscopy to our group. Welcome, Ayushi!👩🔬

Have a read of our new perspective article in (@LabonaChip ) on droplet microarrays. We explore droplet generation, manipulation and analysis for high throughput screens. We’re excited about the future of these technologies!💧 @RobertStrutt @bijing_xiong pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…
👨🔬Meet our new PhD student👨🔬 Sebastian Bargfrede completed his Master in Biochemistry at the University of Cologne in 2023. In his thesis, he analysed the 3D structure and function of a putative Pro-Pro-endopeptidase from C. difficile🦠 Welcome to the group, Sebastian!

Welcome to our new master students, Leonard, Jia and Hilmar! We are wishing you a great stay in our group with lots of fun and great science during your thesis projects🧪🥼🦠

👩🔬Meet our new PhD student👩🔬 Lena Blaase completed her Master in Analytical Chemistry at Uppsala University in 2023. She did her thesis on normalization strategies that are based on ionization efficiencies using direct infusion probe mass spectrometry. Welcome to the group, Lena!

@ETH_en Public Tour: At today’s fully booked lab tour some 40+ visitors learned about microchips and their great use for medical and diagnostic applications or for biological analyses. Big thanks to the @BioanalyticsLab! > u.ethz.ch/H2ZFj

The Bioanalytics group is wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year🎅🎄✨. We have celebrated a successful year of research and lab move with a visit at the oldest cookie manufacturer in Basel, Jakob’s Leckerly, followed by a beer fondue dinner.

Congratulations to Dr. Claudius Dietsche that successfully defended his PhD thesis yesterday🥳All the best for your future steps!

@ETH_en Public Tour: On 12 December, at 6:15 PM, the public is invited to learn about microchips and their great use for medical and diagnostic applications or biological analyses. Please register: > u.ethz.ch/1RGD5 @BioanalyticsLab

Greetings from Rob and Raphael at the NanoBioTech-Montreux Conference, beautifully located at the shore of Lake Geneva🌺

We prepared our equipment for the move into our new building. Looking forward to join the other research groups of D-BSSE in our new home tomorrow.

🧑🔬Meet our new PhD student🧑🔬 Giorgio Brero obtained his Master's Degree in Biomechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin. For his PhD project, Giorgio will be working on a joint project between CSEM and the Bioanalytics group. Welcome to the lab, Giorgio!
