Is it the revenge of recurrent nets? Is it a subquadratic Transformer? It's both, it's neither, it's RWKV: @BlinkDL_AI's novel architecture that infers efficiently like an RNN but matches Transformer quality -- so far. Deep dive by @charles_irl: fullstackdeeplearning.com/blog/posts/rwk…
Foolish, short-sighted policies threaten to hold AI back + destroy many of its most potent benefits while not really slowing down any of its negative effects. This is what happens when you have a perfect storm of fear, paranoia + stupidity driving policy oneusefulthing.org/p/on-holding-b…
ChatGPT can't come up with a completely novel idea, something that is not at least partially a remix of everything it's ever seen. And neither can you.
This recollection of Ed Witten's early career by a friend from his college days is really something. It shows that even geniuses can meander and flounder quite a bit before making a mark.

I just got @karpathy's micrograd demo training a model in the browser using PyScript. #Python running natively in a browser is pretty cool! You can check it out here: matdmiller.github.io/fastai-hugging… @pyscript_dev @jeremyphoward @fastdotai @anacondainc
Absolutely, as long as it is a pure python package or had been compiled for pyodide you can simply include it in the <py-env> tag.
I took a little video of one of the demos just to give an idea of how rad this is. This is a static HTML page (the server does nothing here) but it looks and feels like a Streamlit app. I can view source and directly see the sklearn and Altair code.
Good Thread. I can't think of a job tougher than drawing the line on free speech. Its polarised, dirty and not calling out Hate Speech, atleast on scale, is extremely dangerous.
I've now been asked multiple times for my take on Elon's offer for Twitter. So fine, this is what I think about that. I will assume the takeover succeeds, and he takes Twitter private. (I have little knowledge/insight into how actual takeover battles work or play out) (long 🧵)
For a moment I thought I was on Linkedin 😅
Falling may be inevitable, but what you do after that is what matters!
Emma Stone will be playing Rocky in the film adaptation of Project Hail Mary opposite Ryan Gosling who will be playing Ryland. Though the film will be a little different from the book, the onscreen dynamic and romance scenes will more than make up for the minor changes.
Some computers of the 1950s, such as the Univac Solid State, used magnetic amplifiers for computation instead of vacuum tubes. I've written an article about the history of the mag amp, invented over 100 years ago: The Vacuum Tube’s Forgotten Rival spectrum.ieee.org/the-vacuum-tub…

How does Putin's war not turn into a protracted insurgency, with infinite supplies of weapons flowing into Ukraine across the border from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania - all countries protected by NATO? 1/x
