Developers with incomprehensible naming conventions are either at the early stages or end stages of their coding careers. #ProveMeWrong

Most people critically under-use & and | when working with Ruby Arrays. But I've also noticed that Rails frequently uses &= and |=, compound assignment operators, to make things even cleaner. Here's some examples from the implementations of touch and serializable_hash.

Unlearning is hell. When you're coding something "The Right Way" for a while, say a year or two, and then language conventions or specs change and you have to UnLearn your now-bad-habit and your fingers say ... 'No, muscle memory makes me do it X way' - sigh #ruby

Before marrying someone, you should first make them use a computer with slow internet connection, just to see who they really are.

The web isn’t just another software platform. It’s the greatest software platform the world has ever seen. No permissions, no masters, readable source code. Let’s protect the heritage, work in its service, and remind ourselves just what a marvel it all really is ❤️🙏

Actually, a lot of the projects you start /should/ fail. Long before you plough millions into them, only to end up being a super expensive (both in $ and stress) failure. Failing early is a /good thing/. If some don't fail, we're not trying anything new or testing our ideas.

Wow, I didn't even realize. Nice tip!!!!

Ruby Tip: Did you know that you can pass a class to the grep method & filter all the objects by class? Example: things = [1, 2, 3, "a", "b", "c"] things.grep(Integer) # [1, 2, 3] This works because grep calls the === method (triple equals) on Integer to compare. #ruby

Very proud of the SpaceX team! Can’t believe it’s been fifty Falcon 9 launches already. Just ten years ago, we couldn’t even reach orbit with little Falcon 1.
