I suspect most artists think ADs enjoy telling artists what to do but honestly the opposite is true. The best jobs are collaborating with a vague idea of where youre headed but both artist & AD happily surprised where you end up.
Books that require heavy conceptual thinking are my favorites to work with artists on; the collaboration often reveals ideas/connections I could never achieve on my own. That little 'click' when things start to work? Sublime. How do you approach concept heavy illustration?

you can make art without participating in the process of commodifying it. turning art into revenue is an ugly process and there's no way around that. choosing not to engage with the industry doesn't make your art less important, less meaningful, or less worthy.

I just want to point out that all this "useless mask usage and hand-washing" have also given us the lowest number of flu cases ever recorded. 2300. Not deaths. Cases. In the entire United States. Previous year: 38,000,000, with 22,000 deaths.

Today has gone so sideways I am convinced I am in my own personal retrograde.
At this point any company that gets rid of remote work is saying they don't care about their staff, they don't want disabled people working for them, and that you shouldn't give them any of your money.
Companies are starting to nix the remote roles. It's a bad look. A very bad look. "We can't do it," is obviously false. We have a year-long experiment, on a global scale, proving otherwise. And it IS a reasonable accommodation.
I used a table saw, jointer and a planer without hurting myself. And I feel mighty!
