Ready for my most controversial takes yet? The Dems won the shutdown fight! - This "fold" won't matter at all in next years midterms but making the GOP own the dogshit BBB/tariff/health care policies will - This is not an example of Dems "not fighting like Republicans" it's a…
Unpopular opinion: elected dems are engaging in the same calculus as those actually impacted by the shutdown - whether buy food, pay the rent or heat the flat. All while the landlord wants you to die on the street. That's what it means to be the party in the minority.
Only sociopaths win at chicken. Only people who don't give a damn about surviving or want the other person to die more than they want to live win at chicken. If you don't check those boxes you will always lose - the calculus then becomes how many people are hurt before you stop.
I do rather hope that this pseudoscientific "gait analysis" nonsense gets someone sued into oblvion...
Genuinely perplexed at how often one must prove to the average voter that electing the GOP is disastrous. Yes, in a country this big with this many people living in it, it's easy to miss any particular bad act but with the current volume the lack of awareness must be willfull.
Personal anecdote: a local magazine took a photo of me from my hubs FB page for a "who's who" article they published and never told us about it. Also, their write up was factually incorrect. In case you're wondering if people can be trusted to respect your privacy or dignity...

I hope everyone realises that being able to lie and bullshit in an even, tempered tone doesn't make what you're saying true. Every time Vance opens his mouth, some lackwit swoons because he sounds "good", which makes it easy to miss the fact that he's talking utter nonsense.
For me, one of the worst things about burnout is that even if one recovers, it's unlikely one will fully trust anything (or anyone) again. For one, the systemic/institutional causes can't be addressed but also it is so hard to be heard by those who haven't experienced it.
But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? No, sorry -- that was a rock. Dang kids!
Quick reminder about AI: 98% of AI does not create original content or "explain" anything. They're LLMs collating information from various sources and repackaging it. If AI gives an answer that is trenchant and useful, it's probably scraped whole-cloth from someone's work.
Your regular reminder: Everything is politics. It's how society mediates differences, works towards goals and fixes problems affecting every aspect of our life and world. Saying you don't do politics means you're perfectly happy to let others make your choices.
As we get into the Holiday season, keep in mind, for those last-minute shopping ideas, that I have given myself dispensation to sell indulgences and religious "relics," at fantastic prices. Hit me up.
I'm going to start an OnlyFans, but it's just going to be me in various historical costumes doing everyday activities. I expect to retire by next Thursday.
Listening to NPR this afternoon, a story quoting an American visiting WWII sites in Italy who opined that Trump isn't fascist - his rhetoric is just trolling. Why do folks who say this think that's better? And, how is this acceptable behaviour from the sitting US president?
Hey @NBCNews 5 in Dallas, why mention the "blame Dems" bull the administration pushes regarding SNAP benefits without also reportinging that they won't engage the emergency fund available at the USDA that covers this exact kind of situation? Lying by omission is still lying.
Is it gaslighting or CYA? Not just ABC- most outlets delayed reports, using days-old photos and confounding language (e.g. Trump "plans to demolish" when the edifice was already rubble), thus manufacturing a distinct "oh, well, it's too late now" vibe. Reprehensible.
Satellite images show President Trump's project to build a grand ballroom has appeared to take down at least six trees on the White House grounds — including two historic magnolia trees commemorating Presidents Warren G. Harding and Franklin D. Roosevelt. abcnews.link/j5jABHe
'Solo' is well-nigh perfect. I won't fight you, but I will smile as you make your arguments and it will feel as though I have both insulted and cursed you and yours and all you stand for.
