Every so often, OpenAI employees ask me how I see the co now. It's always tough to give a simple answer. Some things they're doing, eg on CoT monitoring or building out system cards, are great. But the dishonesty & intimidation tactics in their policy work are really not. E.g:

I am a commissioner at the Federal Trade Commission. The president just illegally fired me. This is corruption plain and simple. My full statement:
The tariff shock will create an opportunity for sellers’ inflation 2.0. It functions like the pandemic cost shocks. There will be plenty of confusion on the part of consumers. Prices will rise promptly but inventories were bought at pre-tariff costs. This alone means windfalls.
There's a reason Silicon Valley investors hate the CFPB & it's not because it's terrorizing Americans. Just the opposite. They hate the CFPB because it goes after fintechs that rip people off --fintechs people like Marc Andreesen are invested in. Don't be gullible.
