QA are gamedevs and I will die on this hill
Solve the problem, then write the code. It took me a long time to understand that the coding should come after solving the problem. I’d jump directly to coding blindly trying things. I still do it from time to time and I have to consciously stop myself.
Software development is not all about technical skills. Give me a developer with average technical skills, but with a proper attitude and good social skills over a superstar developer with a bad attitude.
Game accessibility would be nothing without QA. Pay & respect QA folks ♥️
Remember, game accessibility is a marathon, not a sprint. We’re all at different steps in the journey and what’s most important is that we start it & keep going. Be kind and encouraging 😌♥️ We’re in this together ♿️✨
Isn't it amazing how programming can now solve so many hard problems and yet one of the hardest things to do in software is renaming things without breaking everything
Remote and hybrid has been one of the best things to happen to many developers with disabilities. I hope that inclusion is accounted for as these decisions are made. Because everyone belongs ♥️
Hey all, what's your honest thoughts on this turn of events? Genuinely interested. gamedeveloper.com/business/activ…
More game options =/= more accessible That's it. That's the tweet.
unity's documentation pages should show blood stains and cryptic player messages just like in elden ring
Earl & his team are working wonders to support developers for games accessibility. This is just one of the many examples of their great work. Forever grateful for the crew 🥰♥️
Yes! So long as you provide an accessible way to view the text 😉
Game designers and art directors... whats your stance on narrative graffiti?
I just sat down with my parents and had a big talk. They asked the dreaded question “So… what do you REALLY do?”. I decided to REALLY answer. Booted up Destiny. Explained how every single thing goes from an idea to being on the screen. All the disciplines needed. The people.
i want a game dev awards focused on the people who are the backbone of the industry but they'd be reasonably boring. "this is sonia. sonia was the lead backend engineer of every game you've ever played in the last 20 years. she has never tweeted"
Please stop selling this myth of solo devs being heroes doing the work of 50 people completely by themselves. Game dev is better when you collaborate with others ^•ﻌ•^ฅ♡
Eric Barone has made $300M+ (yes, that's not a typo) in revenue in 6 years with 0 employees. He developed a game that has sold 20M copies to date. At this rate, he can easily become the first one-person founder to do 1B+ in sales. Here's how he did it:
Interviewed a candidate for a Frontend position today. We had them complete a 5-15min task in the room, just seeing how they solved a Vue problem. The pressure in the room was real! 😬 I just can’t think of another way to test though 🤔
The single most undervalued fact of linear algebra: matrices are graphs, and graphs are matrices. Encoding matrices as graphs is a cheat code, making complex behavior simple to study. Let me show you how!
If you're struggling to learn to code, it's ok – you're not alone. Learning to code is hard, & everyone gets stuck at one point or another. But it doesn't have to be discouraging - and here, @codingnninja explains why it's hard + how to make it easier. freecodecamp.org/news/why-learn…
