I had M.E. throughout my adolescence and this fantastic article and thread explains how debilitating “brain fog”/concentration issues are (common in long covid). Audio books were life savers when ill so also great Ed mentions audio version of the article soon too.
🚨I wrote about “brain fog”—one of the most common & disabling symptoms of long COVID (and many other pre-pandemic conditions), and one of the most misunderstood. Here’s what brain fog actually is, and what it’s like to live with it. 1/ theatlantic.com/health/archive…
A really clear thread on a really interesting genetics paper, with bits of (depressing) Norwich history, fascinating and worth a read!
The deaths of 17 medieval Jews: An incredible new genetics paper has just dropped: The earliest Jewish genomes and the story of where they are from and how they died is incredibly important, and central to the origin of contemporary antisemitic conspiracy hatred. 🧵

I didn't even know this Measurements consultation was taking place. (No option for metric only!) It must be one of the People’s Priorities. 🙄 Don’t let Mogg get away with a return to imperial measurements by default. Tell them no. It closes on the 26th. beisgovuk.citizenspace.com/opss/measureme…
Feeling poorly with covid for the first time :( pregnant, had to reschedule a scan, “morning” sickness is back, but Twitter and the ongoing resignations/government mess/drama is cheering me up no end 🍿
How we came to use agar for bacterial plates 😱

In this organisation, women's median hourly pay is 22.4% lower than men's.
Really enjoyed helping to deliver @NorwichCTU webinars on eConsent and REDcap. I get very nervous public speaking but it’s great to see what others are doing, share info and connect! #ScaredButDoingItAnyway
I was v lucky to win a copy of Aggi! My 4yo loved it and we’ve read it all the way through already (longest book we’ve read together in 1 sitting) + looked at videos of protists afterwards :) thanks, and only fair for me to buy a friend a copy now to share @Bookbugsdragon1 🦠📚
And the 100th copy of Aggi and the Mystic Boots has now been sold by @Bookbugsdragon1 and by a quirk of coincidence, already delivered to the winner! How's that for service! 🦕🐛🦠📚

Great to hear some of the #QuitSense study findings earlier from @FelixNaughton and Caitlin @AddictionUea . Really interesting trial, and a knowledgeable and really lovely team I felt very lucky to get to work with. So pleased for them!
Made clootie dumpling this week and it’s given me a nice warm feeling :) sadly not proper one or my Nana’s recipe, but as I don’t want to buy/store a giant pot, and don’t want to make something that involves mixing in a washing up bowl, this is as good as it’s going to get :)
A really enjoyable and well organised event on eConsent @UKTMN #UKTMNeconsent reassuring to hear others who have similar issues and have found similar approaches for implementing eConsent in their trials. Informative and helpful!
This is true, which is why it’s upsetting to hear of some people who’ve been informed they’re eligible for COVID-19 treatment not getting referred quickly enough. Advice is to ring GP or 111 if you do not get a call within 24 hrs ☎️ Short thread 🧵
Treatments for COVID need to start early to be effective. Study calculates cost of outpatient treatment to reduce hospitalisation. Very expensive without triage academic.oup.com/ofid/advance-a…
Finally made some time to plan out webinar/workshop I’m helping to do in a few weeks on eConsent, and excitement is at last joining the public speaking nerves. Eternal debate with how many memes are acceptable/appropriate to include though 😁

Just been able to book my booster for next week and < 40, very excited!
I have it on very good authority that under 40s in England are now able to book their booster online. Not sure of the specific age groups that have become eligible, but give it a whirl! nhs.uk/conditions/cor…
