Interesting headline from Independent, March 2021. "Teachers should be prepared to sacrifice their lives" says ex-OFSTED head. He's helping out for a "few days" in a friends school. DfE seem proud that a 75 year old is working in school. #ukedchat
Sir Michael Wilshaw, the former Ofsted Chief Inspector, has told @SkyNews he will be temporarily returning to teaching to help a school in south London next month. If you're an ex-teacher and can help with as little as a day a week in the classroom, go to ow.ly/840L50HfnUs

My first car was Morris Marina. Choke was a pain and often flooded the car. Only four gears as well. Bought for £190 and reverse gear didn't work!
Boris for once decided to join a Cobra meeting. Hic!
Hi @metpoliceuk wonder if you can explain this to the people of the UK. It appears that police are always in attendance in Downing Street: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downing_S… If that is the case, why was no action taken to break up @BorisJohnson 's Christmas parties in December 2020? Thanks.
Cabinet reshuffle Ian Botham - Trade envoy Jeffrey Archer - Prisons Mini Gavin Williamson - Education Matt Hancock - Home Affairs Rees-Mogg - Minister for 18 century Theresa May -Ministry of sound and dance. Strong cabinet but not sure a bout Willaimson Any more suggestions?
Just received notification that @TsuiAllen and 7 others have started to follow @ST57377152 (Deputy Dawg) and her journey to headship.
Sadly know an academy that did this as they thought it had double effect. 1. Poorer families would not be able to afford higher uniform costs. 2. Demonstrates they are tough on uniform and therefore their discipline is better! No surprise as they saw themselves as business first.
It is that time of year where we see the scandal of schools that choose to punish families for being insufficiently affluent by deliberately prioritising image over everything else. The only reason for expensive uniforms is to exclude poorer families from the school community.
Like @rustysmart eyesight (colourblind) so couldn't be a policeman. Had countless jobs including debt collector and seven years walking the landings in prison, and taking OU degree to move into teaching. Still want to be a footballer, but never grew up. Wish I was Prime minister.

Will be listening to this later in the garden. This and Hitchhiker's guide were favourite books. Loved boxers attitude "Must work harder". All this modern stuff of working smarter while I keep plodding on head down. 🐴

Sad to hear #jillmurphy has passed away. Spent many long evenings reading #PeaceAtLast Both children loved the story at bedtime. The idea was them to go to asleep, made me yawn but not them. They wanted to hear it again and again. Wishing Jill #PeaceAtlast
It is a pity that the thousands of teachers who went above and beyond did not receive support from the Government. Private school teachers continued to teach and so did all teachers. I am sure you think Gavin Williamson did a good job. Many teachers will disagree. @ABridgen
It's no surprise that private school pupils did so well in this year's A Levels. Their teachers continued to teach them whilst the education unions had their members sitting on their hands: dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9…
I believe that's three phones that have been broken. Good to see we are in safe hands.
So health minister Lord Bethell conveniently “broke” his phone, meaning all its private texts and WhatsApps, relating to an eye-watering £85 million of Covid contracts, may never be retrieved. I think this beggars belief 🤷♀️ RT if you do too. theguardian.com/politics/2021/…

Covid contracts: minister replaced phone before it could be searched
Government is expected to disclose Lord Bethell’s correspondence relating to award of £85m of contracts for Covid tests
Remember as a child watching Eissteddfod and TUC conference because there was nothing else on tele.
This will be good! Let’s do this! #childhood #twitter #bekind #generation
Agree. Gavin Williamson lost the faith of teachers. Priti Patel lost the faith of Police. We now know where Matt Hancocks efforts and focus was not on the NHS. We are cowering from Sajid's remarks. We want a government that works with teachers nurses and police. Not too late?
I think losing the POLICE FEDERATION could cause this Government serious problems...
Off to pub to watch the Lions: 🍺 Table booked. 🍺 Alka Seltzer on standby. 🍺 Apologies in advance to wife. 🍺 Doghouse ready. let's hope it's worth it! #LionsSA2021
Agree that freezing pay is a kick in the teeth, but maybe teachers would accept with the economy in a mess. I think so many teachers have gone above and beyond and teachers are exhausted and no work life balance and this gets worse every year. Love your books. #PrimaryRocks
Teachers have been on the frontline throughout this pandemic. Going far beyond the requirements of their job description for the greater good. Risking their own health in the process. And now the government has rewarded them by freezing their pay. Absolute disgrace.
Totally agree. Maybe do a to-do list of 😀 ways to chill 😀 people to catch up with 😀places to go (plenty great places in UK). Enjoy your break - you have so deserved it.
To those still standing + finally limping to the end of this extraordinary year, be very kind to yourselves over the coming days/ weeks. The do-to lists can be shelved; the DIY can wait and those who love you will understand your need to just 'be'. Rest. #teacherwellbeingselfcare
To @GavinWilliamson "Pay tribute to amazing teachers" by giving them 0%. Encourage parents to contact OFSTED to complain. Schools faced these challenges without help, support or guidance from you. #PrimaryRocks
As schools and colleges start the summer break, I’d like to pay tribute to our amazing teachers, support staff & young people. On my visits around the country I’ve seen your incredible resilience and dedication - despite the challenges we have all faced. Thank you.
But there is stupidity in not getting a vaccine.
