A mystery fuzz. I’m usually quite good with the plant and fungi world, but this one’s left me stumped. It seems to be a mass of mycelium, growing close to a crab apple tree here in East Devon. Any ideas?

We have an agricultural policy - created by the Conservatives and maintained by Labour - to disincentivise food production. Not only will this will massively hamper our ability to feed ourselves, but it will also result in us having less farmers to deliver environmental goods.

30 years of change here in East Devon. The cereal crop is still there but most of the acreage of this once small farm is now under the concrete of two industrial estates and an A.D. Plant

Not often that a 40-year+ agronomist comes across a new weed in a grass ley! It's an 'Apple of Sodom' - Nicandra physalodes peeking up through an invasion of Mayweed. Terrific name, eh?
