I’ve hung up my pro agronomy boots, but they've come in useful at the fruit & veg patch.

A mystery fuzz. I’m usually quite good with the plant and fungi world, but this one’s left me stumped. It seems to be a mass of mycelium, growing close to a crab apple tree here in East Devon. Any ideas?
Reverend Keble Martin, author of 'The Concise British Flora in Colour', died 55 years ago today. This is a monograph he produced for the front cover of 'The Woodbury News' woodbury-wide-awake.co.uk/about #botany #wildflowers
Fascinating glimpse into the world of biochar at yesterday’s @earthlybiochar Springwater Farm, Devon workshop. Lots of optimism for potential uses in the U..K. #biochar
Worrying...
We have an agricultural policy - created by the Conservatives and maintained by Labour - to disincentivise food production. Not only will this will massively hamper our ability to feed ourselves, but it will also result in us having less farmers to deliver environmental goods.
Thanks to Saul Walker @GardeningSaul for yesterday's terrific 'Exotics" talk to Exton Gardening Club. At the very least, I quintupled my knowledge on the subject. Now, have I got this ginger I.D. correct from this week's visit to @TropicalDorset - Hedychium gardnerianum?
The stunning Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Gardens @tropicaldorset this week. A great setting for this Brazilian Plume #exoticplants
I’ll probably miss out on a visit to the allotment today 👎🏻#stormcieran #allotment #eastdevon #devon
Not a normal bedtime companion. This evening, Leptoglossus occidentalis was minding it's business on my pillow at home here in Devon. Needless to say Mrs R was less than impressed 🐛
Butt, you may say. I spent the morning fitting this beauty that I’d rescued from the tip.
Cardoon flowers just getting going a tad earlier than usual?
Yesterday’s sunshine brought the sound of summer with the buzz of insects around the ivy. #autumn #insects #allotment
IPhone photo:woodpecker meets rainbow here this morning 🌈
30 years of change here in East Devon. The cereal crop is still there but most of the acreage of this once small farm is now under the concrete of two industrial estates and an A.D. Plant
A bit of colour in the Devon hedgerows this morning
Such a good name. Might plant some round the allotment - "come thru the south gate, avoid the mud swamp, take a left at the Apple of Sodom..."
Another Farming enterprise! Darts Farm Sculpture Trail from tomorrow: exmouthjournal.co.uk/news/brendan-r…
Not often that a 40-year+ agronomist comes across a new weed in a grass ley! It's an 'Apple of Sodom' - Nicandra physalodes peeking up through an invasion of Mayweed. Terrific name, eh?
