Since we first released @ApacheKudu I've told people that we hadn't spent any time yet optimizing for zipfian update workloads and I thought it could get much faster if we did. Contributions from Xiaomi this week proved my point: ~60x improvement in YCSB throughput now committed.

In case you’re not keeping track, @ApacheArrow development is growing exponentially. Several languages (e.g. JavaScript, Rust) added recently, each with new active contributors. This thing is happening. (I can’t take any credit.)
