Here’s a genuine documentary idea. The questions shouted by journalists at public figures over the years. How many have produced replies? What has been revealed?
As we say farewell to the great Brian Hayes - here’s an hour. Alone. Just Brian. audioboom.com/posts/7228722-…

Brian Hayes - Capital, LBC, Radio 2, GLR, 5 Live
What a day, the news is that the fantastic Stuart who owned Sandys the fish shop in Twickenham was found dead this morning at the age of only 52,such a loss and loved by all, RIP young man, the other bad news is that Brian Hayes has passed away, what a legend RIP.
Just had a third person apologise to me for their behaviour when I was in charge at Yorkshire’s huge Galaxy 105. I recall little. The early ‘00s sure were heady days in Dance radio
The 18th DG will likely be the most important since Reith. Five weeks to go, although one imagines contenders will be approached.
Radio Tech Con is underway in London. There will be a quiz at the end. Prize is a year as DG, quips @DavidLloydRADIO 🤣 Our photos and updates will be on our Instagram story today - find us as RadioToday @RadTechCon
So lovely to meet up with John Peters’s family and friends on what would have been his 76th birthday - in his favourite Nottingham pub. Loads of smiles and memories.
I was on R4s Media Show yesterday, so I’ve updated my perennial “why BBC radio can’t take ads” blog! radioriley.blogspot.com
How much did Ofcom know of the current BBC issues? How much should it have known? A word on BBC content regulation from a former regulator... davidlloydradio.com/post/how-well-…
As the BBC comes under fire - is the whole system of content regulation fit for purpose in today's complex world? Another blog post here - from a former regulator. davidlloydradio.com/post/how-well-…
Quick reminder that @Ofcom has a statutory responsibility to ensure due accuracy and due impartiality. No statement yet? Did it ever consider the matter in hand at any stage? The BBC should be able to rely on a regulator to reassure - or sanction as appropriate.
Good piece from @MarkUrban01
Excellent, perceptive piece by my old colleague @MarkUrban01 markurban.substack.com/p/the-bbc-is-d…
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think. New writing from me. goodallandgoodluck.substack.com/publish/posts/…
A few words about Tim Davie on the day of his resignation. davidlloydradio.com/post/farewell-…
BBC leadership will always be distracted by crises. It is now too big to manage effectively. The new Charter must bring a fundamental rethink of how we channel public funding and what the BBC should be doing. It should exist - but needs protecting from itself.
