Students looked closely at some Vincent van Gogh paintings today. This helped them to learn how to respond critically to artwork based on texture, use of colour, and details.

To celebrate Métis Week, students created pointillism art pieces. They were inspired by the Métis artist Christi Belcourt's work. Each student included a “spirit bead” somewhere in their piece. This reminds us that we all make mistakes and that's okay.

Today we acknowledged and learned about the National Indigenous Veterans Day. We discussed the contributions that were made by Indigenous people and the challenges they would have faced. We also created our wreath for the Remembrance Day assembly on Thursday.

Students worked on some addition Mental Math strategies this morning. They needed to put the numbers 1-9 in a pyramid shape to add up to the 15 at the top. Students quickly noticed if the numbers they chose were too big or too small.
