The World Society for Virology announces the 2nd conference [#WSV2023] that will be held at the Rīga Stradiņš University, in the beautiful city of #Riga, #Latvia. ws-virology.org/wsv2023/ Looking forward to see you in #WSV2023 #virology #virus
Did not expect to see this on display at @YNHH but it’s a great reminder of how vaccines have transformed healthcare immensely for the better.
It was at my first @sacnas as an undergrad that solidified my decision to pursue science as a career. To come back as an independent scientist w/ that seemingly impossible goal realized is astounding & feel so honored to be back encouraging others to go forward w/their dreams!

This is just nuts. I was not aware that the rate of kids not protected against polio in NYC is that high. Vaccination rates should be close to 100%.
Our new map shows polio vaccination rates for NYC children 6 months to 5 years old. According to our data, 13.8% have not been vaccinated against polio. Polio is highly contagious. The most important way to prevent polio is by getting vaccinated: on.nyc.gov/polio
BREAKING: The first US polio case in over 9 years happened because they were not vaccinated. They now have paralysis. I don't know who needs to hear this right now, but vaccines work.
Super proud of my group for their great showing at @AsiaDengue. Putting this out in the Twittersphere to broadcast their awesomeness. 1/n #LoveVirology
A brilliant & timely review by Prof. #DianeEGriffin on the persistence of viral RNA following RNA virus infection - which can be associated with late progressive disease or nonspecific lingering symptoms of post-acute infection syndromes (#PAIS). (1/) dx.plos.org/10.1371/journa…

We are honoring @BarneyGrahamMD with the 2022 John J. Carty Award for the Advancement of Science for pioneering new strategies in vaccine design using nanoparticle and mRNA technologies. Congratulations! Read more: ow.ly/BOA850IWyi1 #NASaward #biotechnology
Good start of the day. @theNASciences fir the 2019, 2020 & 2021 new members’ induction ceremony, surrounded by Rock Stars like Karla Kirkegaard, Peter Sarnow, @HarmitMalik and Adolfo Garcia-Sastre🤩🤩🤩🤩. Not too shabby

LCMV has been a beacon illuminating immunobiology for 50+ years but the CD164 entry factor remained unknown… until now. Hot off the @PNASNews presses from @glycobrotein @vsv512 and friends.

Happy to share our first foundational manuscript on extracellular vesicles and their ability to alter the permeability of an epithelial bilayer and induce invasion, with RNA as a major contributing biomolecule. disq.us/t/44hyi7k @HasanHumna @SotoZulaida @ikjot_sohal

Jim Strauss was a great scientist, an engaging mentor, and a dear friend. We will deeply miss his wit and insight.
We are saddened to share news of the passing of James H. Strauss Jr. (PhD '67), the Ethel Wilson Bowles and Robert Bowles Professor of Biology, Emeritus. caltech.edu/about/news/cal…
