This is something they don't teach you in medical school or residency. There is no cookbook but there are rules. I have an idea of what a successful IR practice looks like, I have purpose and most importantly, I have had great mentorship throughout my training by IRs who excel.
Recently completed my fellowship at the one and only @MDAndersonNews. I was able to experience every facet of IR, learned a lot and feel enriched thanks to my amazing faculty mentors and PD @jdkubanMD.

I’ve come across quite a few RP IRs saying that they have no incentive to grow the practice because they are salaried employees. There are a handful of IRs locally who have jettisoned their RP group and gone the obl route.This may happen sooner rather than later.
Figured it out — IR numbers dwindle, IRs outside academics end up in OBL/ASC practices to avoid garbage duty (@linemonkeymd), @Rad_Partners /DR groups are forced to give us all privileges for call, we finally get to pick the bones of well rounded IR jobs just in time to retire.
