@TicTacTitans⁩ ⁦@MikeHerndonNFL⁩ the top 2 tackles went off the board just before… so traded back and this is how it shook out. Sign Hollywood this year, make a run for Tee next year and let Hopkins walk after this year. Trade Burks for a later round pick.

Still wrapping my head around the “shut up and play” and “shut up and sing” folks. These are the same folks that won’t let Teachers teach or scientists science. I just read two comments attacking artists for discussing their thoughts in an open forum. For real, which way is it?

Teaching one of my favorite sentences today… “I imagine your mind, and especially what your mind thinks about my mind, and what your mind thinks about what my mind thinks about your mind.” -Cooley

That is a garbage call all the way around!

Why do people think that it is okay to tell athletes to “shut up and play” or musicians to “stick to music” but then retweet everything Elon Musk says or worse yet, their friends crazy aunt that had a conversation with that one person who read it on the internet?

Traveling abroad with students, one asks with each new city “is it safe?” I tell her that it’s safer than our suburbs. Meanwhile there have been 3 mass shootings since we left the U.S. I’m tired of pro-birth rhetoric as our people get murdered to your thoughts and prayers.

I think I’m going to start tweeting lyrics that hit. I’m starting with this… “…raised on sports and Jesus and all the usual suspects…” @MissMargoPrice that line is fucking brilliant! I, too, wonder what will happen next.

Ian Ayre told me Nashville is a unique city in that its Pro teams all support one another. e.g. @KingHenry_2 as a minority owner & @NashvilleSC playing at Nissan. "We never feel like we're in competition with each other. We're actually all here to make Nashville a better place."

Band names fascinate me. Belmont Alum gave us one of the shittiest band names (Diarrhea Planet). However, there are so many gems out there. My current favorite band name is Post Sex Nachos. IMO it is brilliant. What are your favorites or least favorites?

In the vein of music should not be political… what are some of your favorite political songs? Fight the Power? Born in the USA? The Revolution Will Not Be Televised? Strange Fruit? The Pill? Sunday Bloody Sunday? Imagine? Killing In the Name Of? Biko? Give Peace a Chance?

I’m confused by tweets referencing the Super Bowl halftime show saying that music should not be political… Is the act of standing in support of a National Anthem not political?I’ve studied/written on the politics of music for more than 2 decades, there are countless examples.
