So proud of Martha Gayer @StJohnsMarlb for winning the @lsaclassics Classics competition with her presentation about the City Dionysia in 431BC. As her teacher, I couldn't be more proud.
I need to get an important message out there. Boris was reluctant to close the schools because it would take so many key workers out of circulation so my union The NEU made him a promise, that if he closed the schools, we would look after the children of those key workers. 1/n
Media says schools are closed. In fact they are: Preparing food packages Preparing online/offline work Preparing/delivering provision for children of key workers and others Making community calls Making sure those teachers in schools will be safe Preparing to work over Easter
Love this idea! @scarymathslucy @cchall3 what do you think?!
An ex-colleague introduced this game to our staff a few years ago - staff Cluedo! A fun light-hearted way to end the term for the adults? (It can span across a single day or a whole week!)
Love this idea!
Received a work email at 10pm. I liked the sign off. "I like to work flexibly. I’m sending this email now because it suits how I balance my working hours. So, I don’t expect that you will read, respond to, or action this email outside of the hours that suit you."
Here are my 4 things for all educators to live by in 2019: 1. Your mental well-being is more important than ANYTHING 2. Talk, share, connect & collaborate 3. Your family is more important than your job 4. You make a difference in the lives of everyone you work with every day
Just finished making my Aeneid Guess Who characters Games - fun way to revise key characters with the year 13s on Monday! #classicsteaching #classics #examseason #revision #aeneid

The month of Maius (May), most people believe, was named for the Roman spring goddess, Maia. In the Fasti, however, Ovid claims that Maius is named for society’s elders (maiores) and the following month - Iunius - for society’s youth (iuniores).

Just created my first Classics "Thinking Quilt" - idea stolen from @KKNTeachLearn - and so excited to use it with my year 11 Classics students on Monday! #Classicsteacher #GCSEClassics #Ovid #OCRClassics
I feel it’s unfair for History teachers to say “we should leave teaching the ancient world to Classicists” when Classics isn’t taught in the majority of schools. If you have a Classics department, fair enough! If not, try to include the ancient world & promote #Classics teaching.
This will be my next task!
