Reform's council leader in Durham aims to save £1.5bn. His previous experience includes running two companies that went bust owing £1.5m, including more than £500k in tax and links to two others that went bust owing £364k. Fingers crossed he can do the same for Durham!

Other outlets should be careful before reproducing a Telegraph story about the National Trust. The paper has often had to correct and apologise for inaccurate or false claims about the organisation and we will be following up on this one.

Statistic of the Year …. Congratulations to The National Trust for being one of the many things that (despite the whingers) still make Britain great …

For anyone who follows the fortunes of National Trust scones, I have news. This year the Trust sold so many of the plucky British treats that, end to end, they’d stretch one & a half times across Hadrian’s Wall. They’ve been accused of secret wokism & more, but they endure 🇬🇧

Or you could look at how mandating standards in mobile telephony enabled Europe to develop faster than the US. Surely the point is that proportionate and effective regulation can be in the interests of all, monopoly rarely so and disproportionate regulation is an impediment?

“In Utrecht, the bike is not an end in itself. It’s a means to create a liveable, healthy, climate-friendly city for all. The success can be admired in the inner city. It’s lively and yet quiet. Here, it's noticeable: Cities aren't loud; only cars are—and they play no role here.”

It’s strange that we’re still having to campaign to put walking and cycling on an equal footing with driving in transport planning. I mean it’s bonkers when you think about the health, nature, culture, education, community & energy policy gains. theguardian.com/politics/2025/…

If this is true, it is quite disgraceful

My attendance record in the European Parliament was the 4th worst out of 751 MEPs, yet I managed to turn up to vote AGAINST plans to tackle Russian misinformation. Thankfully this is of no interest to the media.

Well this is a total lie @Telegraph. I don’t own any property in London. I live in Redcar. I have one home and one home only, in my constituency of Redcar. What appalling journalism. How dare you just make things up?! Please retract. telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/…

So the Mail didn’t just splice different bits of what @bbcnickrobinson said together. It made up an entirely fictional quote. Will the editor now resign?

This morning @DailyMail admits that it published a statement it claimed I had made when I have never said anything like it. 🤔

Mandatory cycle lanes which lack double yellow lines are funny because it's basically the council saying "hey cyclists here's a slightly safer place for you to ride but you can only use it if motorists decide your safety is more important than them being able to park their cars"

How can @GoFibre_UK justify a 10% price increase next month?
