Ian held the Scottish Labour Party together, quite literally single-handedly. He is a titan of Scottish politics, with lots more still to contribute. Every Scottish Labour MP owes their seat (and much else besides) to Ian.

Lovely to welcome @DavyRussell4HLS MSP, our new colleague, to the Scottish Parliament today. He will be an outstanding champion for his community and I can't wait to start working with him.
This Labour government is committed to devolution. Over the next 3 yrs, it will provide an extra £9.1BN for Scottish public services - the biggest settlement since devolution began. The SNP must now step up and invest in our NHS, police, housing & schools. No excuses.
…this massive investment in Scotland’s capital rather than trying to manufacture grievance for once? Thanks to Edinburgh having a voice at the heart of Government, we’ve been able to unlock massive investment in our city. Something to welcome!

Truly phenomenal decision. They say data is the new oil, and Edinburgh is at the cutting edge of innovation. But this massive decision, that we’ll be home to the UK’s supercomputer, will turbo-charge for innovation and growth. Brilliant for Edinburgh, brilliant for Scotland.

I am increasingly dismayed by Israel’s actions, compounded by their outrageous behaviour towards two Labour MPs this weekend. I am proud to stand with my friends Yuan and Abitsam. Today I again raised my constituents’ concerns in parliament, and will keep doing so.
There are more homeless children in Edinburgh than the whole of Wales, acc to @shelterscotland I raised this appalling legacy of 18yrs of the SNP with the PM today. We need action to tackle Edinburgh’s housing emergency.
