Would just like to take the chance to thank the taxpayers of America and specifically Pennsylvania for subsidising my pregnancy snacks with kid #2 when my family was on SNAP a couple years ago. Bad food is better than no food.

I was SO excited to attend @DoxaconPrime this weekend but my husband is surprise Miserably Sick, so we're stuck at home. I'll still be giving my talk by Zoom, but I'm so sorry to miss the camaraderie this year!

I've seen a LOT of church architecture in my career - but never anything remotely like this. It is, literally, a US Army Quonset hut, split in half and spread apart so a clerestory could be added for light. Our Lady of the Way Catholic Church, Haines Junction, Yukon, 1954.

Catholics! Tell me your favourite parking prayers!

All baptised Catholics have a right (as well as a duty) to attend Mass. This includes the loud and squirmy ones. (Am grateful my regular weekly not-a-parish has so many small children that when my 2yo decides it's Shoeless Floor Time all Mass, I get empathetic commiseration.)

Anti-child spaces are anti-woman spaces. And if you whine about spending one hour of your week being inconvenienced by the noise/movement of a child whose parents are working very hard to bring their child to Jesus, straighten out your priorities. 2/

I am once again irritated with the draconian one-sidedness of EULAs

it's embarrassing to see a number of publishers doing "twelve days of Christmas" giveaways as a countdown to Christmas. You're actually actively giving up additional marketing and sales opportunities by making this mistake. (The twelve days of Christmas START with Christmas.)

I have an interview for a part-time position with the city law department! It's for something at which I will be very, very good. Problem: I'm going to be 7mo pregnant at time of interview. There is No Hiding This. anyone got advice?

No this is good. Things like this are good.

How is this real

Always wondered who the patron of this was! Seems appropriate to me personally her feast day is in the leadup to Halloween (the time in which I am most likely to be last-minute finishing a sewing project).

October 25 is the feast day of St. Tabitha, patron saint of tailors and seamstresses. She appears in the book of Acts as a devout follower of Christ who was miraculously resurrected after prayers by St. Peter. heavenlybricks.com/2023/10/st-tab… #legohagiography #orthodox #catholic

Policy question on my mind this month: For agencies who provide food aid to needy persons, what are the protocols for persons with a history of eating disorders? (Context: many of these agencies insist on also providing "nutrition education" with the food aid.)

Looking forward to #DoxaconX this year -- hope to make new friends there as always!

... this is why I don't practise anymore. I'll take work-life balance any day. (and I don't think I love or enjoy it as work as much as OP of this thread does)
