I attended the first hearing for the #Samourai Wallet case earlier today on behalf of @BitcoinMagazine and briefly spoke with one of the defendants, Keonne Rodriguez, after the hearing. Here's a recap of what I learned:

The biggest issues with modern network recorders is the POE switch at the back of them. Try using a good quality POE switch which then connects to the NVR. I just had a NVR have 7 ports fail and fixed it with a POE switch.
Today is apparently "Tell A Lie Day". We can't think of a more common lie in the tech industry than "we care about your privacy"...aside from maybe "your call is important to us".

When designing your camera system, always try to have cameras cross each others view as to not have any blind spots. Keep cameras low but out of peoples reach #hikvision #dahua #wisenet #nxwitness #bosch #axis #cctv
Avoid having your alarm and access control system sitting on the internet. Its handy to have it accessible through the cloud but that is a massive #security hole If you must then choose a system that has a strong 2fa to enter the interface
If you can afford to use a NVR without the POE channels then that's the way to go. Most issues with IP camera systems is the POE ports of the systems recorder. A better step is to avoid a NVR and use a VMS but that is much pricier #Security #cctv #cameras
