Try =(A1)-(Sum(BunchofCells,MoreCells,etc.). You can select your "bunch" by holding CTRL and selecting different groups. This should help if your stuck - bit.ly/1LwayuC Good luck, and god speed :)

I've never seen someone with such strong feelings on the subject.. But I feel ya! (People who leave blank spaces at the end of their number cells are monsters as well, who have cast shame upon their family name... lol)
