Happy National Biomechanics Day to all moving creatures! 😍 #NationalBiomechanicsDay #biomechanics

Our results did not find any significant difference between ROM in right vs left feet… but do you feel like one of your ankles is more or less flexible than the other?

Yes %85.7
No %14.3

Throwing it back to when our own dancer, Miranda, had to have ankle surgery following many dance injuries. This week we are working on a video about our research and she will have to relive those injuries for the sake of research! #TheThingsWeDoForResearch #biomechanics #dance

That feeling when you submit your final short communication for review! #biomechanics #dancebiomechanics #anklerangeofmotion #CELEBRATION

Love using the Measure app built into the iPhone. We‘re able to reproduce ankle #rangeofmotion data consistent with other research but using the ease and precision of our #smartphones as a measuring device. New research can utilize this new tech for biomechanics #exercisescience

Biomechanics class is taking an interesting turn. With just another 3 weeks to wrap the semester, we gotta put our creative hats on! @DocGoble @OUGotKicks @pack_pain @Bowling4Science @ExerciseMasters #biomechanistsinthemaking #excitingtimes #ExerciseScience #gradschool

Now that our data has been collected and analyzed, it’s time to write our manuscript!! #anklerom #ou #GradSchool #biomechanics #dancers #nondancers #Science

As promised, here is our data for our dancers and their ankle range of motion! #dancebiomechanics #anklerangeofmotion #biomechanics #dance

Take a look at our data from non-dancers... They fell within the average range of motion for the general population but significantly less than the dancers! Stay tuned to see the graph for dancers and really see the difference. #dancebiomechanics #anklerangeofmotion

Our preliminary data analysis shows that dancer DO have more active ankle range of motion than non dancers! How crazy that this can be found using the device you’re holding right now... #exercisescience #dancebiomechanics #ankleinjuries

Taking final range of motion measurements! All of our data has been collected! #ankle #rom #gradschool #oaklanduniversity #science #DataCollection

Did you know females are more likely to sprain their ankles than males? #biomechanics #femaleathletes #ankleinjuries #dancebiomechanics

We finished our data collection on the dancers this weekend! The previous research we have seen shows 70 degrees to be the normal ankle ROM and our highest dancer ROM found was 98 degrees! Can't wait to compare it to the non-dancers soon. #danceresearch #biomechanics #anklerom

So excited to get to work with some dancers this week! Meet me at the barre 😉 #ballet #barre #biomechanics #danceresearch

Data collection begins this week! We’re looking at ballet dancers and non dancers ankle range of motion #ankle #rom #ballet #dancers #Biomechanics #Kinematics #gradschool #mastersdegree #exercise #Science

Trained ballet dancers don’t see a decrease in muscle-blood volume or tissue oxygenation at max plantar flexion when compared to a control group. This may be due to their focus on muscle-stretching training which may improve blood circulatory conditioning. doi.org/10.1055/s-0031…
