Ugh, @wordpress, really? Look at this trash! I expect ads on the free WP site, but not like this, where it obscures the page. Do you really have to crap it up so bad?

#DayJob has been crazy, no time for much of anything else. Still true, but about to change. Stealing some time to learn #Blender3D today.

So my son bought an #OculusRift & I tried it out for the first time tonight.

The cheesy-looking mtns w/snow & flat grass don't look like much, but it's sort of procedural, my 1st attempt, happy w/ it as a quick thing.

Spent 2 nights playing around with landscapes & materials in #UnrealEngine, making weird things, just seeing what's what. Fun!

Just tried an #OculusTouch for the 1st time. I'm sold. Had fun just fiddling with the capacitive sensors. #Oculus #VR

The studio formerly known as Irrational Games is now called “Ghost Story”. Come learn what that means for our fans!

Wrapped up another part of the #UnrealEngine course! Used C++ for everything, even the sections that used Blueprint in the lessons. #gamedev

In the process, I learned a bit more about the component model in #UnrealEngine. Far to go, but I'm feeling much more confident. #woot!

This way the component is all in one class, not spread out in multiple places. Much better, much easier to maintain.

…it turns out you don't need blueprint. You can define the curve as an asset, edit it using the build-in tools, then reference it in C++.

The instructor claimed it was better to use blueprint b/c it's easier to define the timing curve graphically. That's true, but…

The course I'm taking on udemy has you do this part in blueprint instead. Just didn't feel right.

Really good #gamedev education progress tonight. Figured out how to define a float curve as an asset & use it in a timeline, all in C++.

Personal #gamedev goal: have my first game done this year. If I make it, I'm treating myself to #gdc 2018.

#gamedev education is going well. Slower than I'd like, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. At least I'm learning.
