President, The AI Risk Network, 2x Jeopardy Question

AI AMNESTY WON'T DIE Hearing word that President Trump may sign an EO to preempt state AI legislation. Handing the reins of AI to tech corps and an ineffective Congress would be a disaster for the President. Only states have the will and means to ACT NOW! @realDonaldTrump
On this #GivingTuesday, please consider supporting high-quality AI x-risk discourse with a 501(c)(3) charitable donation to Doom Debates! Doom Debates’s mission is twofold: 1. Raise awareness of AI existential risk 2. Build humanity's infrastructure for high-quality discourse &…
"superintelligent AI could replace humans in controlling the planet" Bernie Sanders is right that this is a real risk that requires urgent attention.
If AI eliminates millions of jobs, how will people survive? Will AI destroy democracy with a massive invasion of our privacy? Could a superintelligent AI replace humans in controlling the planet? We must act NOW. AI must benefit all of us, not just billionaire investors.
The threats from unchecked AI are real — worker displacement, corporate surveillance, invasion of privacy, environmental destruction, unmanned warfare. Today, a tiny number of billionaires are shaping the future of AI behind closed doors. That is unacceptable. That must change.
The Big Tech super PAC coming after me wants you to believe I’m the biggest threat to their quest for unchecked power. And guess what? They’re right.
"Make AI the tool your workers use, not the weapon you use on your workers." @MetCouncil's @NYCGreenfield wisely highlights bipartisan support for an AI framework that puts people back in charge. Read more: nydailynews.com/2025/11/30/ai-…
I spoke with @FastCompany about the urgent need for a federal AI standard, the work I'm doing in NY, the work I did before entering public service, why it should be easier for the federal government to adopt technology, and more. Read the full interview: fastcompany.com/91447425/alex-…
We’re being too passive. The fact there is zero legislation on this is crazy, but humanity is genuinely being too passive at the advancement of generative AI.
Meet Michelle she is stored on a server in Iowa. (Made by my buddy Jeff Dotson)
They know smartphones will fry your kids' brains. They deploy them anyway. Same with TV. Same with opioids. Same with AI.
Here's yet another study showing that kids who get smartphones earlier have worse mental health as teens. So what's the right age for a first smartphone? I'd say its whatever age you want them to cut back on sleeping, reading, exercise, and socializing. I advise not doing that…
Watch this. I’m leading the fight for a first-in-the-nation AI safety bill in NY. And I’m running for Congress to make sure AI works for you, not against you.
Please watch this. The Senate killed a bill to ban state regulation of AI by a vote of 99-1 this spring. Now the industry - eager to stay unregulated - and Trump are scheming to shove the provision in the national defense bill. You need to know this, so you can help stop it.
So far 25 members of Congress have publicly discussed AGI, superintelligence, AI loss of control, or the Singularity: 🔴Sen Hawley (MO) 🔵Sen Blumenthal (CT) 🔴Sen Lee (UT) 🔵Sen Hickenlooper (CO) 🔴Sen Lummis (WY) 🔵Sen Murphy (CT) 🔴Rep Biggs (AZ) 🔵Sen Sanders (VT) 🔴Rep…
Got CNN off my bucket list.
For American workers to win, the AI industry that wants to make us all unemployed must lose. Choose one. Artificial Superintelligence. Or an American middle class. We can't have both.
Just weeks ago, China used an American AI model to attack our government and chemical manufacturing plants. Anthropic voluntarily disclosed that information. NY’s RAISE Act would require such a disclosure by law. We need a federal solution that would do the same.
🎥 Watch: MIRI CEO Malo Bourgon's opening statement before a Canadian House of Commons committee. @m_bourgon argues that superintelligence poses a risk of human extinction, but that this is not inevitable. We can kickstart a conversation that makes it possible to avert this.
As a father, I'm so thankful to congress for keeping AI less regulated than turkeys – Happy Thanksgiving!
So far, most xriskers have felt too good for anti-data center campaigning. We made fun of data center water usage and electricity consumption, even though these are actual problems. Already, these issues are big enough for politicians from left to right to win elections on.…
Huge wave is coming that will make every past technological shift look microscopic. "Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Wednesday released a study that found that artificial intelligence can already replace 11.7% of the U.S. labor market, or as much as $1.2 trillion in…
Good illustration. It's an important point.... once we reach AGI, it will be extremely super-human in many ways, and so could quickly become extremely powerful and dangerous (if that hasn't happened already...)
.@ForHumanityPod has an amazing track record communicating the risk we all face to the public. This work is badly needed to get crucial meaningful regulation off the ground. We support GuardRailNow and so should you.
I've started a nonprofit, GuardRailNow, and I need your help. Our approach is unique: I do not come from tech. I cannot write code. I do not live in SF. I am not an EA. I am not a rationalist. I have never been to Silicon Valley. I'm a dad in Baltimore talking about AI…
