Very few leaves remain on the trees now, #Oak & #Beech are 2 of the last deciduous trees to drop their leaves in the #autumn. Look closely, you might notice that beech trees have already formed their buds, next year’s leaves are waiting for spring to arrive.

#LiDAR data allows us to create a detailed model of the earth’s surface, by allowing us to remove any tree cover and look at the topographical changes underneath. We can interpret this data to find unknown archaeology. Why not have a peruse of your local #NewForest area?

@sdnpa is leading a group of conservation orgs, including @ARC_Bytes, to link and repair heathland habitat - critical for sand lizards - across Sussex. Meanwhile @NewForestNPA has been reintroducing the sand lizard since the 80s and protecting native populations in the New Forest
