Saturday Playtime Found these skulls tucked away in some crates. #Saurophaganax (conjectural) #Torvosaurus “old school” #Allosaurus CLDQ composites Neat directionally-correct size comparison. Look for Scaled loved and Full-size offerings late 2024 :-)! #FossilCrates

Spikes and Claws = a nice day! The Thagomizer of #Hesperosaurus. They come in four-packs. This exhibit shows an original spike and another wrapped in a modeled keratinous sheath. Exceedingly dangerous weaponry. Big Al Two’s claws, too! #nationalFossilDay #FossilCrates

That #Hesperosaurus plate is enormous! It belongs to Victoria, a fantastic stegosaurid I showed a few videos ago. A cast of it is on the mount at the Natural History Museum of the University of Zurich in Switzerland. Definitely a museum worth a visit!!! #FossilCrates

Our book is out! "So you know Tyrannosaurus rex?" is available worldwide from your favorite online booksellers. Colin Boisvert and I had a blast writing it. We hope you have even more fun reading it. Who is it for? Anyone who loves dinosaurs! #FossilCrates #SoYouKnowTrex

“Victoria” #Hesperosaurus mjosi Late Jurassic Wyoming is 20’+ twas found in 1995 at the Howe-Stephens Quarry. The name derives from “victory,” as what would become Big Al Two’s tail ran atop it. After having lost Big Al to the US Gov, this was a big win for them. #FossilCrates

Big Al Two original material! This #Allosaurus jimmadseni is on display at the Zürich Museum of Natural History. The original bones, minus the skull, are for the most part mounted in a plaque-mount style. The skull is at Sauriermuseum Aathal. That tail is sweet! #FossilCrates

Happy 120th Birthday, #Albertosaurus sarcophagus Twas the 3rd theropod dinosaur named in Osborn’s Oct 4th, 1905 paper and felt like an afterthought alongside #Tyrannosaurus rex and Dynamosaurus. Even worse? It was last named and not figured. These are Lambe’s pics. #FossilCrates

Cope 1892 "On the Skull of the Dinosaurian Laelaps incrassatus Cope" wrote "Figures of these remains will be given in the final publication by the Geological Survey of Canada." I suspect these were later moved to Albertosaurus as "from the Laramie formation of the Red Deer river"

Oct 4, 1905 Osborn’s #Tyrannosaurus paper appears (AMNH 973). Later sold to the Carnegie. Oct 4, 1997 “Sue” is sold to the Field. Oct 4, 2025 Curtice and Boisvert’s “So you know Tyrannosaurus rex?” is sold at bookstores globally. Happy 120th birthday, #Trex! #FossilCrates

Oct 4, 1905 Osborn’s #Tyrannosaurus paper appears on AMNH 973 Oct 4, 1997 “Sue” the aptly named #Trex was sold. Considering most places have The King named on Oct 5th, twas it a coincidence? It was a Sat. after all Happy 120th (66,000,120 ;-)) CM 9380 holotype! #FossilCrates

Cutest #Camel? #Stenomylus “narrow molar” gracilis Peterson 1907 from “upland” Nebraska is Oligocene y Miocene (~23-16 mya). The stunning Agate Springs locality produced many skeletons of S. hitchcocki. Did it have a hump? Trunk? We sell casts if you need one :-) #FossilCrates

#Neovenator, “new hunter,” Hutt et al. 1996 from the Isle of Wight. First described as an Early Cretaceous allosauroid, later the sister taxon to Megaraptora, thus Neovenatoridae, now a basal carcharodontosaurid? I love how we evolve! Cast at Sauriermuseum Aathal #FossilCrates

Two specimens, one cool mount! The front half of this sauropod dinosaur is ‘Max’, formerly SMA 0011, now NMZ 1000011). It is the holotype of Galeamopus pabsti The back half belongs to ‘Chris’, aka SMA 0087. This specimen is @sauriermuseumaathal in Switzerland. #FossilCrates

A Barosaurine ;-) The holotype of #Kaatedocus for decades was dubbed #Barosaurus as the centra were more elongate than Diplodocus. Tschoppp y Mateus 2012 named SMA 0004 the holotype, here on display at Sauriermuseum Aathal The tail might not go with the neck. #FossilCrates

Tony is a 3D model of a plaque-mount-preserved baby sauropod @sauriermuseumaathal I posit tis a diplodocid, the elongate posterior dorsal centra show vertebral elongation begins at the posterior dorsals and moves anteriorly. More cervical spine prep will answer it. #FossilCrates

@Sauriermuseumaathal w/ #Plateosaurus material from the @SauriermuseumFrick, the w/ some of the most incredible sauropodomorph specimens ever discovered. This skull and articulated cervicals is indicative of the amazing quality preserved at the Frick locality. #FossilCrates
