A Critical Role for p53 during the HPV16 Life Cycle pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35608342/ Why do HPV cancers never have p53 mutations despite abundant p53 expression? Because the virus needs p53 for epithelial cell growth, therefore other mutations drive oncogenenesis in HPV cancer? Thoughts?
Congratulations to Hannah Lohner who passed her PhD candidacy examination entitled“The Role of Histone Deacetylase 6 in Oral Bacteria-Mediated Periodontal Inflammation"Hannah is a candidate in our Infection and Immunology program in Dr. Huizhi Wang’s lab. philipsinstitute.vcu.edu/postgraduate/o…

Now online and free to read: "MYCN upregulates the transsulfuration pathway to suppress the ferroptotic vulnerability in MYCN-amplified neuroblastoma" by @AnthonyFaber5 and his team from @VCU. cell-stress.com/researcharticl… They propose "that MYCN orchestrates both enhanced cystine..
Congrats to Richard Kurupi who defended his dissertation today. He worked with @AnthonyFaber5 identifying subsets of head and neck cancers, susceptible to either SHP2 inhibition or a combination of EGFR and SHP2 inhibition. This should lead to better patient outcomes
Congrats to Christian Fontan on defending his dissertation on examining how HPV16E2 regulates cellular pathways that affect tumor survival following chemotherapy. He's off to finish medschool. We'll miss him but we're excited for his future as a clinician scientist @iainmorgan26
