As the monarch emerges from its cocoon due to the tense vibrations of the thunderstorm, somewhere in its mechanism is a device that responds to the gestalt of the storm. A Butterfly is born.

There was a smell of carbon in the air. The opposition was confused with whether fast is slow or slow is quick. In the mashed banana sunlight, Dan Moriyama, carrying his excitement lightly like a hunter carries a loaded shotgun over a fence, sailed into the electrified air.

The HAC back line - like a gallery of beautiful paintings - was to be gazed at and admired, but not touched.

Watching the HAC was much like lighting a cigarette under a smoke alarm, there always a feeling that something was about to go off.

In the second half, HAC jangled their spurs by redeploying Tony "fear death when there is no danger, but not when there is, for one must be a man" Lui. It remained tight.

For the HAC, the path from creature to creator is hard to quantify. But by however much, in those moments on a rugby pitch, the improvement was made in each person at the expense of who that person used to be. For the HAC, there is no such thing as being, there is only becoming.

The game is now a memory. Like all good stories it was a love affair and a war. The harmonious balance of opposites that holds us together.

The physical battle was like soiling a nappy then wearing it for the rest of the day. Not very nice, but once it warmed up you got used to it

Our try was like a rainbow. The flow, phase and handling had no beginning or end; a streak of beauty from one end of the pitch to the other.

Possession was going around like champagne at a Grand Prix winners podium. You just know some of it is going to go on the floor.
