My article on leadership and school librarians is out now in @InfoProMag. All school libraries need an experienced, professional librarian at their helm. We should be looking to our international colleagues for inspiration! @intlNadine @IFLA @GreatSchLibs @richardgerver
Excellent article by Committee Member Mary Rose Grieve on the tightrope school librarians walk in their leadership role. May we all be ‘gentle agitators’!

“This book looks to present what is presently known about the science of writing. Our understanding of how young writers develop is becoming more complete all the time. We know that writing is something that is both personal and intensely social, both cognitive and emotive…”

I've never really understood why other subjects should dictate what the next class book is. Books should be selected because they'll make the children gasp, laugh, cry, think and empathise, not because there's some heavily contrived link to Squirrels & Submarines. #Edutwitter

After a bit of a hiatus on X, I return with an autumnal-looking front cover of a brilliant book, finished today after our @CILIPSLG committee meeting. It was such a good read-perfect as the nights draw in-a rich mix of history, suspense magical fantasy and lots to think about🌰🍂
If you teach children to write by copying they will come to believe that they can only write if there is a model to copy.
A question I am regularly asked about reading lessons is this: How can we write learning objectives for lessons without a clear focus on a specific 'comprehension skill'? My answer? Don't bother. >>
Last night @nikkigamble spoke to @macbarnett in what must be one of the best conversations about books I’ve ever listened to. Today, I have subscribed to the substack of @macbarnett and @burstofbeaden and my life is complete open.substack.com/pub/lookingatp…
