Gen Abdullahi Mohammed has died at 86. One of the most powerful and understated Nigerians of all time. For a decade between 1998 and 2008, the Ilorin-born retired Major General served three Heads of State as NSA and Chief of Staff, and yet I have no idea what he looks like. And…

So Yar’Adua also kept Obasanjo’s COS, Gen Abdullahi Mohammed (Rtd), for a year, I believe for stability and institutional knowledge. (Mohammed had also served Abdulsalam as NSA, so his year with Yar’Adua was like his 10th straight year working for a Head of State)
