Called up to the engineering bay, they need a droid to communicate to the computer, and I am the closet one.
It is another day, they need some calibrating down in the docking bay. Love this job, open space, and many other droids as well as people.
I plug into a wall terminal to check on if there is any repairs or maintenance that needs to be done. 3 levels up there is a loose wire.
I move along the halls, passing many of the military personal, most don't see, and only few look my way.
I'm given a schematic and codes to the station before they let me head out on my own. It's a very impressive and massive station.
It took them a good while to get through the whole line of droids but finally the technicians tuned me to general maintenance and repair
Thank the Maker! We are finally getting the restraints off and getting tuned to our new responsibilities.
Many white armored soldiers go by in unison. We are being moved towards a cargo elevator, the workers press for engineering bay.
The station is black and grey, very sophisticated and polished. Men in black, grey, tan, and olive colored uniforms go by.
We finally make it to our destination, workers are currently moving us still in the restraining holders out of the docking bay.
Powering down for now, so bored, and might as well nap not that droids dream. Unfortunately that is only for sentients.
The RA stopped and looked at the droid that made the audacious noise for the longest time and moved on.
The RA-7 droid was making its usual rounds after telling us once again to stop the chatter. One of the other R3s gave the RA a raspberry.
2 days now from our destination, we are getting restless in our restraints.
We start to talk amongst ourselves again careful not to gain to much attention from the RA-7 still at the console.
Switching back on, I swivel my head around to get a good look to see if anything changed. Most of the others are on as well.
I plug into one and take a last look around. Nothing but the RA-7 at the console and hundreds of switched off droids. I switch off as well.
With nothing much else to do, most just switch off, and I think that I will also. Thankfully, the restraints has its own built in chargers.
I join in the chatter to only be interrupted by the RA-7. "Your noise is creating a stir among the ship' crew." We became silent.
We are not capable of developing our own personality yet but the need to communicate seems to be mutual among droids and sentients alike.
