Square waves are a rare ocean phenomenon where two wave systems intersect at nearly right angles, creating a grid-like pattern on the surface. They form due to different weather systems and can be dangerous for boats and swimmers.
The Ocean Wave Basin at Marine Building, Plymouth University, is a unique facility that allows waves and currents to be generated at any relative orientation and can be run at different water depths [read more: buff.ly/3zmhqfu]
