Having spent the summer in the English countryside, I’d forgotten how much Paris could stink of piss and body odour. One outing in the city and I’m wondering how I could ever forget that distinctly revolting Parisien aroma.
It is littered with so many historical inaccuracies that it makes a mockery of the BBC’s remit to educate the public. I’m not talking about the racial diversity of the cast – that’s by the by – but the actual basic matters of facts, dates and events being abandoned for spectacle.
What did you think of the first episode of King & Conqueror starring James Norton?
‘Russell T. Davies, one Britain’s most celebrated television screenwriters, has a new script – a paranoid, progressive potboiler in which human rights teeter on the brink.’ My latest! telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/08/1…
Happy birthday, @jk_rowling! 🎂 We may not have a table at the Ritz or a donkey balloon on standby, but we’re celebrating you with heartfelt thanks for stories that resonate so deeply and characters we love like old friends. With love from Kenz, Lindsay, Pools, and all of The…
I wouldn’t change anything about this 70/80s/90s playlist at my gym, but I can’t help but wonder whether anyone is finding fitness inspiration in Wet Wet Wet’s seminal classic Love Is All Around… 🤔
It is true that some women fighting trans ideology have aligned themselves with Trump and the patriarchal right. But the only alignment between the original gender critical feminist position and the right is that we think women are female. And feminist women don't think that…
Amazing thread but this particular part is quite fabulous for its brevity in summarising why “gender” – no matter how much academia and activism tries to redefine it into a plaything – is a deeply sexist notion 💙
I mean, those bitches, getting all offended when men come along and assume the trappings of their oppression because its so pink and fun!
This is a lie, and an easily provable lie. I’ve spent the best part of three decades funding initiatives and donating to charities serving vulnerable women, including domestic violence shelters. The charitable trust I set up in 2000 focuses on alleviating social deprivation, with…
Very clever audio mash up by Jon Holmes Featuring various voices - among them: @UKSupremeCourt , @michaelpforan, @StephenNolan and @NewsLetter_Pols
Never underestimate how crafty and devious JK Rowling really is. She managed to shift all the way from progressive liberal to right wing fascist without changing a single one of her political views.
Five days after FWS vs Scottish ministers & far too many people still need to be reminded that the govt position was that quotas for women could be filled by men. How can that be anything other than marginalising, downgrading, even erasing, women?
For the millionth time, knowing that women are female isn't bioessentialism. Woman is just the word for the adult female members of the species homo sapiens. But thinking that women should be defined by having 'female brains,' or what clothes they wear, or what activities they…
The once-great charity should pay attention to the fact that so many of us LGB people still hope it might turn around one day and apologise for its mistakes, even if attempts to make it realise feel more like trying to talk to a Brickwall.
“Stonewall has spoken of ‘deep concern’ at the court ruling. It would do better to examine the bitterly polarising role which it has played in this debate, damaging the interests of women and trans people alike.” thetimes.com/article/669c39…
Okay, this might do it, this might finally convince my boyfriend I’m still a leftist.
Joint Statement from the Political Committee of the Communist Party, the Central Committee of the Young Communist League, the CP & YCL Women’s Commissions on the UK Supreme Court ruling that "sex" means biological sex in the Equality Act 2010. We welcome the Supreme Court's…
This is only true if you think that feminism progresses by shedding its association with female lives and bodies on the basis that it's really about redistributing "womanhood" and "femininity" to the people who deserve them more. It's only true if you're a misogynist.
For those saying it’s a win for women. It isn’t. It’s a violent set back in feminist history.
Only a mind like Victoria could so efficiently shut down several years’ worth of stupidity in one fantastically written paragraph, and that’s only the start of the article! 👏
Women are female. The only reason to think that dictates our destiny is sexism.
‘Biology is destiny actually’ getting enshrined in law is not a victory for feminism it’s a victory for the global backlash against it
theguardian.com/law/live/2025/… “But we counsel against reading this judgement as a triumph of one or more groups in our society at the expense of another, it is not.” Yes it is. It’s a triumph of science and commonsense. Rejoice.
The brave women of FWS had to step up because politicians and officials failed to stand up for everyone’s rights. This must not continue. It’s time for our elected representatives and civil servants to do the job we pay them to do. 👇 sex-matters.org/posts/updates/…
