I filed a resolution today changing the house rules. When Government is shutdown and federal workers and our military must show up for work, so must Congress. No more paid vacation during a shutdown
During today's pro forma session, the Clerk read a message from the Speaker designating Tuesday, October 14 through Sunday, October 19 as a district work period.
Week two of the shutdown and the House still hasn’t shown up for work. Federal workers and service members are working without pay, yet Congress gets paid for inaction. So I’m proposing a House Rules change: stay in session until the shutdown ends. No paid vacation.
