I like to code. I think I'm ok at it

Creating more #slack channels doesn't magically multithread my time #SoftwareEngineering

I think the biggest lesson I've learned at my job over the 5 months is that the ability to build and connect many simple things is just as valuable -- or more valuable in some cases -- than building one super complicated thing #softwareengineering

If I want to turn a simple idea into code quickly? #javascript If I want to turn a complex idea into code quickly? #typescript If I want to write easily testable and resilient code that builds and deploys easily? #golang #SoftwareEngineering #programming

I think the word I will use to describe the #TypeScript setup / debug experience without leaning into some web framework....abhorrent?

#SoftwareEngineer confession: I hate Slack with a burning passion. Thoughtfully arranged communication has been supplanted by rapid fire streams of consciousness and an unsortable hodgepodge of very important and completely useless information

"Wow that #cloud migration went better than expected" said no one ever. #softwareengineering #AWS #Azure

You can't "loosely couple" parts of a system whose responsibilities are tightly coupled. Imagine your sense of smell trying to operate "independently, but in concert with" your sense of taste #SoftwareEngineering #Microservices

Honestly I think my favorite thing about #golang is that you can return multiple values without wrapping them up just to break them apart again. Object Oriented when necessary.

Has anyone seen 'Effective Communication' in a job description and thought 'Darn, I guess I won't apply'? Useless fluff in job descriptions doesn't deter bad candidates -- it filters out good ones #programming #technology #coding

It's wild how much of the internet is "Do these random strings match". #webdev #softwaredevelopment #programming

Software companies will spend 5 years talking about whether or not to refactor a #microservice that took 1 month to build. #coding #softwaredevelopment

It's much easier to crap on bad #code than it is to actually write good #code. Have sympathy for the devs that came before you. #WhoWroteThis #OhItWasMe

I don't know who needs to hear this but..don't JOIN on DateTime fields #SQL

I used to think that #coding languages and frameworks changed too fast for me to keep up and that I was stupid. Then I realized that I don't care.

After a month and a half of not using Windows on my laptop, the sight of a computer mouse disgusts me. #Linux

Who needs Burning Man when you have #OndotNetLive

If anyone like me has primarily only used #Windows for development, I implore you to take a weekend or two and dig around #Linux. With cross platform becoming more common, a lot of new (to us) paradigms make sense once you see that they were adapted from Linux

After being a developer for ~7 years, finally dipping into #Linux is a humbling and exciting experience.
