Wet play hasn’t dampened the spirits here…these creative pupils decided to come to the library and ask if we had any ‘how to draw books?’ - we did of course!

The children are still talking about our edition of The Masked Reader Series 2. The French Strawberry with a love of Tintin, more usually seen donning goggles in the DT lab, was voted most amusing!

Year 7 & 8 discussed the many issues raised by the outstanding ‘Orphans of the Tide’ by @Struan_Murray. From perceptions of mental illness to if it is ever right to kill an innocent to save the many - there was certainly food for thought at these book breakfasts!

Years 5&6 had the ‘answers to everything’ after reading majestic Sam Copeland’s ‘Uma and the Answer to Absolutely Everything’ @stubbleagent. They explored friendship, AI and whether we really do want to know it all, all whilst munching alpaca droppings (aka chocolate raisins)!

There were no ‘blank’ faces at the Year 4 book club when recounting the hilarious but thought provoking ‘The Day The Screens Went Blank’ by @dannywallace. We’ve all agreed a bit more imaginative play in our lives is the way forward!

There was nothing ‘grim’ or ‘woody’ about Year 3 as they discussed how to treat friends and newcomers after reading the brilliantly funny and slightly anarchic ‘Grimwood’ by @NadiaShireen this term.

It’s been a book club bonanza this term at King’s Hall and I can’t wait for next terms chosen reads… …

Read to remember… This week in the library we have been considering why War Fiction is so relevant to us in our lives today. “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” George Santayana

Thank you to King’s Library Detectives - you were so successful in solving the Pyrland Day Whodunnit mystery I am happy to report the library has been free of unsavoury bookish characters for our return to school - well done!

A spine-tingling National Poetry Day here as children in King’s Hall Library get their creative juices flowing and make poetry using the titles on the spines of books!
