I have long said we have a distributional conflicts problem, not a trade problem. We are giving ourselves cancer to deal with the long hair instead of just getting a haircut. We are threatening USD reserve status when we can just send more checks to Mississippi.

It’s jarring to hear extremely thoughtful people cheer for US tariffs, and implore the Europeans to deploy similar policies, because they want their children to grow up to be engineers and not TikTokers. Of course we want that! But tariffs won’t achieve that goal for at least…

Deficits = corporate profits. Buy equities

By 2028 most voters are going to be young “asset-less” people. They will ask for more fiscal deficits and pro-labor policies to close the gap. This will generate a much higher inflation volatility than in the last 20 years. Most portfolios are not prepared for that at all!
