Y'all. The Early Modern Transgender Craze Seducing Our Scholars? It got me. I've never been more thankful to sustain what I'm told (& fervently hope) is irreversible. So much gratitude and love for @professor_chess and @HamletHologram and the entire #EMoTransDrama community

Its that time of year again: STOP going to "haunted" historic asylums. Institutionalization still exists. Millions (if not billions) of ppl have never been given reparations for the harms they suffered/ suffer today. Its not fun, cool, or exciting to tour spaces of abuse.

Okay what if you could go to a haunted house where no one jumped out at you, but it was full of little puzzles and clues and things that were scary and maybe upsetting. Like an escape room you could leave whenever you wanted but unsettling and ghostly. Would you be into that? 👻

THIS. 100,000%

As a disabled person, I would much rather risk a nondisabled person “abusing” a tool that should be freely available for everyone than deny a disabled person the access they need out of a weird urge to police imagined future “cheaters.” Secondly… (1/

If you ever want to read an essay that just has it *ALL* get yourself over to @micah_goodrich's "Maimed Limbs and Biosalvation: Rehabilitation Politics in Piers Plowman" in the Trans Historical collection. Brilliant, rich and NECESSARY if you study disability and/or transness

This is probably going to get buried by other news, but on Wednesday the Supreme Court is going to hear a case that might gut a major enforcement mechanism for the Americans with Disabilities Act. I wrote an explainer @19thnews. 19thnews.org/2023/10/suprem…

I need you to know that this object is in such exceptional condition that when I saw it I screamed AND cried. It is an unbelievable survival, and makes so clear just how vibrantly colourful the early modern period was

The LAPADA Fair begins tomorrow and on offer will be this exceptional circa 1600 folio, the finest example of Elizabethan embroidery to come to the market in decades. It is in superlative original condition, its silk threads incredibly vibrant and its gold spangles glistening

I cannot overstate how much of my time as a politically conscious disabled academic is spent reminding students that, yes, you’re allowed to have a body and reminding faculty that, no, you’re not allowed to punish students for it.

How amazing to get to collaborate with @HamletHologram and bring #EmoTrans drama to the Midwest by hosting this star-studded symposium here at @waynestate in Detroit. Maybe you want to attend?
