Hi everyone! The Barrow lab will be moving to BlueSky Social. Please follow us at: bsky.app/profile/labbar…. See you there!
Happy Holidays from the Barrow Lab and wishing everyone the very best for the New Year! The lab surprised me with my very own MitoLisa ❤️ from the talented Jenny N. from @OrianShirihai’s lab. @CornellNutri @CornellCHE
We are excited to share our latest work in @ajpgi ! I am very proud of this work by @bmitchell828 @TrisLee23 and our friends and collaborators @lizljohnson lab @CornellCHE @CornellCVG @CornellNutri (1/2) doi.org/10.1152/ajpgi.…

Big congrats to my graduate student Chloe Cheng for being awarded the Cornell Center of Vertebrate Genomics Scholars Award for her work in brown fat and metabolism. We are very proud of you! @CornellNutri @CornellCVG @ChloeMCheng
It remains a mystery how the single sulfur-containing amino acid taurine can activate NST to protect against obesity. Here we show that one of its biosynthetic enzymes ADO is critical for mitochondrial function. Congrats Pei-Yin! mdpi.com/2072-6643/15/1… @CornellCHE @CornellNutri
Super congrats to my graduate student Kaydine Edwards for passing her A Exam (Qualifying Exam) this summer! We are very proud of you! @CornellNutri @CornellCHE
We have identified a novel mitochondrial protein Nipsnap1 that is critical to sustain the activation of brown fat and interfaces with lipid metabolism. Big congrats to Yang and Yue and the rest of the Barrow team!! tinyurl.com/2jphbwch @CornellNutri @CornellCHE
The Barrow Lab family celebrating the end of another busy semester. These kids are amazing! @CornellNutri @CornellCHE
How we think and talk about mitochondria matters to our science and to newcomers in the field. The powerhouse analogy is expired and we need specific vocabulary to capture the beautiful complexity of mitochondrial biology. We propose a framework and some nomenclature.
Thanks for the kind invitation Paul Cohen to share our work in the Rockefeller Clinical Research Seminar Series. It is always wonderful to meet outstanding clinical scientists and getting to reconnect with amazing friends and colleagues 💕@DrJamesLo @CornellCHE @CornellNutri
So grateful to be the recipient of the Hartwell Biomedical Research Award @Cornell. I could not have achieved this without the work of my amazing team (@YueQu2 and Kaydine Edwards) and the support of my incredible mentors and collaborators @mjfmitomd @CornellCHE @CornellNutri 💕
Joeva Barrow (@LabBarrow), assistant professor at @CornellNutri, has won a 2022 Hartwell Individual Biomedical Research Award, which funds biomedical research to advance children’s health. @CornellCHE news.cornell.edu/stories/2023/0…
So excited to share our work detailing robust methods to perform small molecule screens in primary MuSCs to maximize physiological relevance to mitochondrial disease and other myopathies. Congrats Yue and Kaydine! tinyurl.com/2cswpy7d @STARProtocols @CornellCHE @CornellNutri
On my way back from a phenomenal GRC conference where I was the only black female faculty. Don’t get me wrong, I felt very welcomed by the community, the amazing chairs, and am grateful for the support from Carl Storm. But I think we can agree that with n=1, we have a ways to go.
Special thanks to Nika Danial and Aton Gross for an outstanding GRC Mitochondria in Health and Disease conference in Italy! As a junior faculty, it was an amazing opportunity to showcase our work and to connect with so many members in the field! @CornellNutri @CornellCHE
Our lab at Stanford is looking to hire 2 postdoctoral fellows and 1 research technician in 2023 to study metabolic regulation. Many cool new 🐭projects and supportive environment! svenssonlabstanford.org Email [email protected] if interested. Please RT!
Big congrats to Dr. Yang Liu @YangLiuCornell for earning his Ph.D. today! This is a first for my group and we are so proud! Yang will be joining the pharmaceutical industry ranks taking on a position at McKinsey & Co. @CornellCHE @CornellNutri
Hi twitter: we are now recruiting postdoctoral fellows interested in understanding how diet and exercise regulate metabolic and brain health. Please RT and spread the word! @StanfordMed @Stanford_ChEMH
