Last month Laborers joined elected officials and labor leaders for the announcement of a maximum benefit increase for unemployed workers.
This Thanksgiving, we provided $10,000 and partnered with local organizations to distribute 6,100 turkeys and chickens to our neighbors at Queensbridge Houses, Ravenswood Houses, and Woodside Houses, and the wider community. (1/4)
Proud to participate in the @LIUNA #LaborersRising conference in Chicago which included our very own Brigade Captain Xiongwei Jin, V.P. @whosescity, MTDC Business Manager Dave Bolger, MTDC Field Representative Justice Favor, GNY-LECET Director Karla Cruz & many more. #LiUNA #1U

Advocates are still calling on elected officials to hold a vote on Intro. 910, which would in part set a wage floor for construction workers on city-funded affordable housing projects. It has stalled in committee for more than a year. bit.ly/4oqHjnz
"For too long, construction workers like me have been paid poverty wages on tax-funded projects. The City Council could change this reality." Gilfredo Valentin, former affordable housing laborer and now @local79nyc member. @TheChiefLeader thechiefleader.com/stories/constr…?

“No contract, no coffee is more than a tagline—it’s a pledge to interrupt Starbucks’ operations and profits until a fair union contract and an end to unfair labor practices are won.” -Michelle Eisen, Starbucks Workers United spokesperson and 15 year veteran barista.
Workers from across NYC & across industries came together to support the workers at Starbucks on strike. NYC is a union town & we’ll never hesitate to stand together in the face of corporate greed. Join the fight and don’t cross that line. #NoContractNoCoffee
"The investigation, launched in 2022 after a referral from Laborers Local 79, found that between 2016 & 2024, Alba failed to report hundreds of workplace injuries and instructed employees not to file workers’ compensation claims." @amNewYork @AdamDalyNews amny.com/politics/const…
