Learning Disabilities & Autism at Manchester Met

@LearningMet

We do research with people with learning disabilities, autistic people, and their families. We are committed to social justice and more equal research practice.

This is quite the development. Time to rethink and act on the continuing avoidable deaths of people with learning disabilities.

So it's time to implement a different way to stop the early and in many cases, avoidable, deaths of people with learning disabilities or autism. LeDeR doesn't have the legal powers to ensure change happens. Meeting next with the Minister @sarasiobhan @GeorgeJulian

Good to see strong coverage of this book. As Rachel says, we shouldn’t shy away from this stuff and silence it.

Perfect example of a number of sentences that say nothing, add up to nothing, do nothing, change nothing. It’s a central part of the problem. (Not Paul’s tweet but the response.)

Empty ministerial rhetoric on health is contributing to the killing of our loved ones. The 22-year life expectancy gap for people with Learning Disabilities is a direct result of a lack of statutory, accountable action. Stop the talk, start the change #LearningDisabledLivesMatter
