The latest Privacy Preserving Attribution proposal has been picked up by PATCG w/the intent it is on its way to the WG when available. This means post-cookie private attribution is on the track to become a Standard. Amazing work by all the participants. github.com/patcg/admin/is…
I am against exploiting #GDPR to go after privacy engineering. We must say: no. This is not just wrong. It is harmful. If we can't improve user privacy then why bother with the whole theatre?
I am a privacy researcher and I worked actively on privacy-preserving approaches, including in AdTech. It's understandable that there was somewhat a disconnect between technology folks and the legal folks, but I would assume that there was a catch-up in recent years... :-)
The Busy Beaver Challenge, an open online collaboration, started working together in 2022 to solve a major problem in theoretical computer science. “We’re playing at this edge of unknowability,” said Shawn Ligocki, a programmer and contributor. quantamagazine.org/amateur-mathem…
C is for Cookie… that’s good enough for me 🥇
Can confirm, a ninth gold medal tastes as good as the first. Congratulations Ms. @KatieLedecky! #ParisOlympics
Update: the paper which Apple references to argue that Topics API is a significant privacy risk has critical and fundamental problems. Random-number generator is badly seeded, which may mean that the results are flawed. github.com/yohhaan/topics…
Apple is also criticising a (the least exciting, though) part of Google's Privacy Sandbox, the Topics API. Apple is directing a big punch at (and huge criticism of) Google's Topics API. This part sounds as an opinion piece (publicistic entry): "imagine what advanced machine…
Dam! An online collaboration of programmers and amateur mathematicians announce today that they have finally solved the Busy Beaver 5 problem, ending a 40 year logjam. @benbenbrubaker reports in a new extended feature: quantamagazine.org/amateur-mathem…

Bravo @malisolves, this was the best Monday in recent memory. Smooth fill, clever hidden theme, perfect "aha!" moment at the end. 10/10
i don't have an @NYTGames subscription, can someone tell me if this puzzle is any good????
So, it seems like I should be buying a lot of lottery tickets today. privacysandbox.com/intl/en_us/new…
🌶🌶🌶 Spicy take alert! 🌶🌶🌶 No one will tell you this, definitely not someone at Google, but my gut is that the odds of a delay of some kind of a 3rd party cookie deprecation are getting pretty high. 1/
Okay @NYTGames did you change the rules? Or is it like "oh yeah words in Strands have been allowed to cross themselves all along and it just coincidentally never happened until today"??!?
🎧 @eric_seufert & @pbannist giving me more insight into how the ecosystem sees Privacy Sandbox and 3P cookies. Solid mix of low-level API detail & industry motivation. Minor disappointment no-one's calling any of these segments "Spill the TEE" yet. mobiledevmemo.com/podcast-cookie…
