Young people did this. Last Friday, @POTUS held a ceremony at the #WhiteHouse for the creation of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention; a huge breakthrough to help tackle the complex and vast issue of ending gun violence in the U.S.
A juvenile is in critical condition after being shot this afternoon in Lanham, Maryland, and at least two schools in the area are on lockdown as police search for a suspect. nbc4dc.com/NDAxxwF
There were 10 shooting deaths and 22 non-fatal shooting injuries in Maryland during the week of August 28-September 3. We #SayTheirNames, offer our deepest condolences to their loved ones, and recommit ourselves to the cause of ending gun violence.
Today many of us are stepping into another school year. New textbooks, new outfits, new goals. But the same familiar fear of violence lingers. It’s with us every year, and it won’t go away until we fix this gun obsessed culture & backwards laws. Safety is the least we’re owed.
Today there was a tragic shooting outside Mervo during regular dismissal. One of our students was taken to a hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. Our thoughts are with the family & Mervo community. We will have counselors at the school next week for students & staff.

It's only a matter of time before this violence touches every community in America. Last month, Highland Park marched with us. Meanwhile, this evil plan to steal life was already in the works. The next shooter is planning his attack RIGHT NOW. This is reality, not exaggeration!
The alleged Highland Park shooter had a music video fantasizing about what appears to be a school shooting on YouTube. The video has 42,000 views and has been up for a year. These things are never a total surprise.
