The deal for Murakami is pretty likely to flop, but I love it for the White Sox. I hope they hit on it, it would be fun for all of baseball.

Pretty fun gamble for the White Sox. The power is legit and so are the strikeouts, but pretty low risk for a team like Chicago. He joins a really fun young core, and if he proves he can hit MLB pitching he’s a free agent again at 28

BREAKING: Third baseman Munetaka Murakami and the Chicago White Sox are in agreement on a two-year, $34 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Murakami, 25, is the single-season home run champion in Japan and will bring his prodigious power to a rebuilding White Sox team.

I like JHM and think he’s a good fit on a second-division club as a DH (Colorado anyone?), but he clearly fell behind too many guys in Detroit.

They'd be selling as low as possible on Jung. JHM meanwhile has shown that although he has an elite eye, his power is moderate at best, his EVs continue to be low, and his in-zone miss rate is still high. Plus he's essentially a DH and has been passed by RHHs Jones/Lee/Anderson.

Cheng’s bat may never let him be more than a defensive fill-in at SS, but the Tigers need just that at AAA and as ML insurance. Plus he’s a lefty hitter, the Tigers love those!

This brought back a lot of memories - 15 years with Dave and co. with the Marlins and Tigers. Good times and wonderful honor for Dave!

It’s been 10 years since Dave Dombrowski’s run in Detroit ended. He was a giant figure in reviving a long-dormant baseball town, even if he never did get a ring here. We caught up this week to discuss his #Tigers tenure, as he enters the ⁦@MSHOF⁩. —> detroitnews.com/story/sports/m…

Tigers really need a premium starter but wow, King gets $75M protection and contract outs every single year? This is a strong deal for him.

Plus they re-signed Minor League lefty Carlos Pena on 12/12.

Per the transactions log, the Detroit Tigers have signed LHP Enmanuel De Jesus and RHP Inohan Paniagua to minor-league contracts. - De Jesus made the bigs with Miami and spent the last 2 seasons in Korea. - Paniagua has spent 7 seasons in pro ball but hasn’t been above A-Ball.

Giving Tigers some credit - they didn't want to overpay for pen arms last July. Best solution to avoid that is do more in the offseason. They have, at least in the pen. I think they have one more late move for a $10-15M starter who slips through the cracks (Verlander/Scherzer?).

TMLR must have a google alert on this, I checked earlier today and these weren't there! Little was 1 of 2 waiver claims the Tigers made after the season, along with Dugan Darnell (still a FA). That's $100K per claim to have a better chance of re-signing to Minors. Expensive!

Per the transactions log, Sean Guenther and Jack Little have re-signed with the Tigers on minor-league deals.

Javy homer from the left side is freakish. Such tantalizing athleticism.

Javy Báez is launching balls out of the stadium … FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE PLATE?! 😳

I’m bummed to see this. Braves just did the equivalent of the Tigers signing Torres after 2024. Kim could have been the one “easy” offensive upgrade the Tigers could have made without blocking anyone.

Not loving the chances on a Tigers free agency offensive move
