Speaking at #MDLS22, @SLCaldrone reminds us that designing for visual accessibility is not a new idea. Guides for designing for color blindness have been around since at least the 1930s. "We don't have any good excuses for not making visuals more accessible if we can do so."
The only thing better than an unexpectedly popular series of data visualization videos? Figuring out why so you can do it again. Kristen Adams and Roger Justus from @MiamiOHLib are telling us how. #MDLS22
So are we! We love making the most of data!
Looking forward to hearing how to use Outlook and the session on finding institutional data!😀
#MDLS22: data librarians already have some data skills, so why not use them for your daily administrative tasks? @SHU_Libraries 's Chelsea Barrett and @samah_alshrief tell us how to streamline the process with Outlook calendar exports.
We're hearing from @bntzyn about Google CoLab and R-Studio CoLab - two platforms that can avoid common challenges of leading a coding workshop when students are using their own remote machines. #MDLS22 #DataTools
Kicking off our final day of #MDLS22 with a series of talks on Data Tools! Grab your [coffee emoji] and enjoy!
Jessica @hagman of @illinoislibrary reminds us to support qualitative data research. "We want to recognize the full potential of our campuses doing research on the world in a complex way, rather than based on very narrow definitions of science and knowledge." #MDLS22
Kendra Spahr and Laura Bonella of @KState gave #MDLS22 a template of how to build out data services strategically based on the strengths you have, training available, and what your researchers need. Read more on their work supporting Social Sciences here: krex.k-state.edu/dspace/handle/…
Looking for hands-on, real-world examples for data curation training? We're hearing from @bezray2 and @mikalaraethelib about training modules from @WeAreDCN. Check them out at datacurationnetwork.github.io/CURATED #MDLS22
#MDLS22: Heather L. Barnes reminds us that while documentaries may be faster and cheaper to make than traditional ones, preserving them can be tougher. They involve large files, many material types, and little time, expertise, or funding to help.
This was a great example of collaboration! Thank you so much for sharing with us!
Looking forward to hearing how to use Outlook and the session on finding institutional data!😀
