Think of the block feature a bit like a car lock. A determined car thief can get past that lock very easily. So why do you bother locking your car at all? It’s b/c most people are lazy & locks stops the majority of Issues. The block wasn’t perfect, but it’s still worked.
Sure determined stalkers can make alt accounts, but it’s just one less barrier which puts the onus on the victim to have to erase themselves from the public life. If X is part of how you make your living (eg artists) & therefore it’s important you’re public, sucks for you

Soon we’ll be launching a change to how the block function works. If your posts are set to public, accounts you have blocked will be able to view them, but they will not be able to engage (like, reply, repost, etc.).
This is the WORST idea ever. In many cases, the block button is to protect stalkers or harassment, not just people being "annoyed". This site also runs the risk of being taken off of application stores since that violates their terms of use. Rethink this!!!
