Part of comforting another is recognizing the various aspects of grief & normalizing them. When a mourner fears they are losing their mind as they cycle through various kinds of grieving, the comforter can assure them that they are not insane but this is indeed part of grieving.
We are often blinded to our western culture of Christendom because we assume it was delivered directly from God. But the truth is that Christendom can be just as opposed to the teachings of Christ as secular cultures can be—sometimes more so.
