It’s a good reminder that slogans feel harmless until you imagine them landing on the other child. If a message wouldn’t sit comfortably when the words are flipped, it’s probably worth a second thought. Our future isn’t a competition — it’s shared.
Remember when they said “go paperless, save trees” Now we are fully digital and are destroying more trees and ecosystems than paper ever did.
I use this to remind students that thinking comes before writing.
The promise was simpler than the reality. Paper was visible, so it felt like the problem. Digital damage is quieter — hidden in energy use, data centres, devices, and short lifecycles. “Paperless” didn’t remove impact, it just moved it out of sight.
The part where you’re quietly managing 30 different needs, emotions, backgrounds, and attention spans… all at the same time… while still making learning feel safe, calm, and purposeful. That bit looks easy. It absolutely isn’t.
Morning thought ☕️ What’s one thing schools say they value — but don’t actually give time for anymore? Curious what others are seeing.
It’s a positive step, and training matters. But inclusion only works when it’s matched with time, staffing, and specialist capacity. Investment is a start — delivery will make the difference. #SEND independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-n…
We talk about school policies as if classrooms exist in a bubble. They don’t. Behaviour, attention, and motivation are shaped by a lot more than what happens between the bells.
It’s a real concern, but it needs nuance. Many families home educate well; others turn to it when systems fail them. Oversight should protect children without assuming one model fits all. thetimes.com/uk/education/a…
Out of curiosity—has anyone else gone to the doctor and watched them Google what to do because they “didn’t know”? Happened to my partner today. Normal now… or a massive red flag? #NHS #doctor
Support is tricky. Sometimes it helps students manage difficulty, and sometimes it quietly helps them avoid it. Telling the difference isn’t always easy — but it matters.
Morning thought: some of the best teaching is quiet and a bit unglamorous. Showing up, being consistent, and doing the basics well doesn’t look impressive — but it adds up.
School behaviour, attendance, SEND, phones, parental expectations, and teacher workload are all connected. Schools are being asked to manage increasingly complex social issues within the classroom. It’s worth asking how much responsibility schools can reasonably carry alone.
Morning reminder ☀️ You don’t have to reinvent teaching today. Clear routines, calm expectations, and showing up consistently still move the needle. Small, steady things done well add up — even on the ordinary days.☺️
Boss: “You arrived 10 minutes late.” Employee: “Yesterday I stayed late finishing that last-minute report.” Boss: “I understand… but rules are rules.” The next day, the employee arrived exactly on time. And at 5:00 p.m. sharp, shut down the computer. No extra emails. No work…
This strike isn't about a few pounds in a teachers pocket. It's about sufficient funding for schools to do the job that urgently needs doing. #TeacherStrike #PayUp
We don’t have the money to pay teachers a livable wage or resource their classrooms, but we do have the money for a classroom panic room?!
Here is the safe room in action! While it’s simple to put in place, both teachers with one in their classroom said they keep them set up and students use them as sensory or hang out rooms wbrc.com/app/2023/03/13…
